SOPFEU - Resources
The Société de protection des forêts contre le feu
(SOPFEU) has a highly skilled workforce and a wide network of collaborators.
Protecting forests against fire requires teamwork.
 |
Personnel |
Employees primarily work at the bases
in Baie-Comeau, Roberval, Maniwaki and Val-d’Or and also
at the head office in Québec. The personnel is primarily
made up of firefighters, protection officers and air attack officers
along with management and support services for operations. SOPFEU
also provides continuous training to all its personnel.
|
 |
Firefighters |
SOPFEU can count on a strike force
of municipal fire fighters for forest fires in rural areas or urban
peripheries. Over 250 forest fires are fought every year by fire
departments.
|
 |
Auxiliary workers |
SOPFEU can also call upon over 400
trained and qualified auxiliary workers. A written agreement is
concluded with various organizations that agree to promptly provide
trained workers upon request.
|
 |
Extra fire fighters |
Finally, SOPFEU can also count on
casual fire fighters and forestry workers to whom it has provided
training.
