Despite a lower number of forest fires in the last
decade, over 800 fires destroy thousands of hectares of forest
every year. Human activities are responsible for close to 70% of
these fires.
The Société de protection des forêts contre
le feu (SOPFEU) is launching a new campaign with the slogan Inflammable,
Caution: forest ahead! This campaign specifically targets outdoor
enthusiasts, but is also intended for all forest users such as
cottage owners and forest workers. Forests are valuable, beneficial
and a source of a variety of activities, but we must not forget
they are still fragile and vulnerable to fire. If you build a campfire – Caution:
forest ahead. If you light up a cigarette – Caution: forest
ahead! If you make a fire to clear an area – Caution: forest
ahead!
In addition, the visual concept is a stylized flammability pictogram,
superimposed on a forest full of life, which shows the threat that
hangs over this valuable resource and the activities associated
with it. As soon as fire enters the picture, things can take a
sudden turn for the worse. The forest calls for caution. Let’s
heed that call!
