Regardless of the circumstances, SOPFEU’s team strives to accomplish its mission, which is to “Optimize the protection of forests against fire in a cost-effective manner so that forest-related resources can be sustained and continue to benefit all communities.”

In order to do this, several specialists contribute their expertise to reach a common goal. This goal includes:

• Discovering a fire before its reaches 0.5 hectare
• Attacking the fire within the hour following its discovery
• Controlling the fire along its entire perimeter before 10 a.m.
• Extinguishing the fire before it burns a maximum of three hectares
• Providing quality services where cost control is rigorous
• Fostering a healthy and safe working environment
• Encouraging respect for the environment during operations
